TEN NIGHTS NATURE'S BEST PACKAGE TO NORTH EAST


There are many reasons why you should plan your holidays to the northeast of India. This article will lay bare the facts. Some of the prime reasons are the presence of the pristine Himalayas, along with other beautiful hill stations. So also the presence of the mighty Brahmaputra river along with the ancient tribes and wildlife sanctuaries. Additionally, the presence of tea estates spice centers. The North East has myriad pleasures that are difficult to be counted on the human fingers. If you take a ten nights nature best package to the north east, you are sure to be charmed by the natural beauty, exciting adventures, waterfalls, lakes along with traces of Buddhism prevalent in the ancient monasteries. The presence of delicious colorful food and the colorful customs and traditions which bring with it colorful clothing and paraphernalia marks the northeast.

Ten nights package to north east

We were undecided at first where to go for our summer vacation. We were contemplating on Darjeeling or Ooty. We were also mulling options like the North including Akshardham temple, the Golden Temple, etc. However, finally we decided on visiting the North East. Our itinerary was as under:

Day 1: The ride from Guwahati airport to Shillong was a 100-kilometer journey, which could be covered in 3 hours. We were received on arrival at the airport and then whisked away to the Shillong, which is at 6825ft/2050M. Then we check-in at the hotel and rest for the evening overnight at Shillong. It is a pleasant night what with each of us tired from our plane journey.

Day 2: Our day 2 was action packed with a ride from Shillong to Cherapunjee, a distance of 60 kilometers to be covered in 2 hours. After breakfast in the hotel at Shillong, we took the car to drive to Cherapunjee, which is at 4869feet/1484M above MSL. The latter has amazing waterfalls and exquisite limestone caves. Attractions like Mawdok Viewpoint, Nohkalikai Falls 7 Sister Falls, and Thangkarang Park and Mawsmai cave populate Cherapunjee. We visit each of these locations to whet our appetite for adventure. As if our 2 hour ride from Shillong to Cherapunjee was not enough, we got an attractive shock when we visited all the above attractions. All of them imbued a subtle charm within them. Finally, we returned to Shillong and got back to the hotel to enjoy a good night’s sleep, after a hectic day.

Day 3: Our day 3 was a full day Shillong city tour. This was to be carried out after a sumptuous breakfast of the most delectable delicacies that our Shillong hotel could dish out. We first visited the Don Bosco Monument, then the Ward’s Lake, the Botanical Garden, the Golf Course, the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christian, Crinoline Falls and Lady Hybrid Park. After all this, our evening was left free for personal activities as all the above attractions were covered in the first half of the day. We again had a good night’s sleep at our hotel in Shillong.

Day 4: The journey from Shillong to Bhalukpung is a 300 kilometers journey, which can be covered in 8 hours. Once we drive to the city, we check in to a hotel and rest there for the evening. We spend the night at Bhalukpung. En-route to this city, we view various scenes, which are both picturesque and eclectic in their enigma. We thus discover the hidden charm of the North East.

Day 5: From Bhalukpung, we are to move to Dillang which is at 150 kilometers from the former, Dillang can be reached in 5 hours from Bhalukpung via vehicle. Dillang is at 4910feet or 1497M from MSL. En-route we visit Tippi. Tippi is a place at an elevation of 190 meters from the river Bharali. It is accessible from the banks of the river. There is also an orchidarium with over 7500 orchids. On display are both dainty orchids like Dainty Lady’s Slipper to the more formal Dendroblum. Arunachal has the widest range of orchids in the whole country. We spent the night at our Dillang hotel by resting in bed after a good dinner.

Day 6: On day 6 we visited Tawang which is at 10,000ft or 3048m. This distance of 140 kilometers, we cover in over 6 hours. On our way up, we halted at the war cemetery and then scale the Sela Pass which is at an altitude of 4114m or 13494 ft. This pass is well-known for its high altitude lakes and scenic beauty. This place is also ideal for ice-skating during the winter season. Then we check-in at the hotel, have our dinner and call it a day.

Day 7: Our day seven itinerary was a full day city tour of Tawang. In this we visited the Tawang monastery and the Sungester Lake. The latter is at an altitude of 14500 feet and was formed in 1950 and was a result of a major earthquake. It is better named as Madhuri Lake after the actress of the same name who came here to shoot the film ‘Koyla’. In the evening, we return back to the hotel, have a good dinner and tuck into our beds.

Day 8: Our day eight was populated with a journey from Tawang to Bondila, a distance of 190 kilometers, to be covered in 8 hours. We started our journey after an early breakfast checked out of our hotel at Tawang and headed for Bondila, which is at 7274 feet/2217 m. We check-in a hotel at Bondila and visit the Gontse Rabgyaling Monastery in Upper Gonpa and the Thub-Chog Gatsel Ling Monastery in Lower Gonpa. We also visit Bondila viewpoint. This location offers an excellent view of the Himalayan landscapes and its snow clad ranges. We stay overnight at Bondila, in the hotel, have dinner and then sleep in our beds.

Day 9: On day 9 we were to visit Guwahati. The latter is at 162 feet from MSL. We check-in to the hotel, and spend the evening doing our thing in the evening. Overnight, we stay at Guwahati, have dinner at our hotel and sleep.

Day 10: On day 10, we are scheduled to have a full day city tour of Guwahati. We start at 7 a.m. with a packed breakfast. First we visit the temple of Maa Kamakhya, the Nabagraha temple which is also called the temple of the nine planets, along with Basistha and Balaji temples. After a healthy lunch, we visit Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Science Museum, State Zoo, Government emporium for overnight shopping at Guwahati.

Day 11: On day eleven, we are slated to check out of our Guwahati hotel and head for the Guwahati airport. We check out of the hotel, after a healthy breakfast and then visit Kamakhya temple. With our eyes full of memories, we head for Guwahati airport and bid farewell to the North East.
